Frequently Asked Questions
Question:
As other reviewers have already said there are lots of brackets and attachments so you have lots of options about how to position/fit the light. All pieces are plastic, but are nonetheless very study and whilst somewhat utilitarian are not ugly as far as I'm concerned. I'm guessing that most people that buy solar lights do so not because they particularly want a solar light but moreover because they want a light without the expense, inconvenience, or disruption of running cables. This leads to a trade off that must be part of the decision to buy and certainly must be part of one's expectations. The light from this lamp does not last from dawn to dusk, nor is it as bright as a mains powered halogen lamp, but it certainly does generate enough light to see by, does last long enough into the night for when I care about, and is very easy to position (and reposition as I've done already). So am I pleased with it, yes, could it be improved upon, well possibly, as another reviewer noted the solar panel angles forwards and backwards in line with the light but is not capable of being tilted to either side - a feature that I suspect would give better "sun capture" although may risk making the fixture either less sturdy or more expensive, now how much actual difference it would make I don't know. If I could have, I would have probably knocked half a star off for that but didn't feel it deserved to lose a whole star so have gone for 5 stars. So yes I'd recommend it as a good example of what it is - and no electricity bills! By Cryptoplank on Mar 23, 2011 Helpful? 0 | 0
Question:
I have had this little gem almost two weeks now and it has proved to be an excellent addition to my garden. Supplied with full instructions including numerous brackets screws and plugs you can fit this light to any surface or position in your garden. Made of a strong robust plastic I have mine positioned just under the apple tree pointing up which adds a lovely subtle classy illumination to the whole tree. It will be amazing in a few weeks once the blossom starts to come out. The beauty of this light is you can fit and forget get hours of use and after the initial outlay there is no more cost and another bonus it's eco friendly. I would gladly recommend this spot light to anyone 5 Star! By P Howard on Mar 21, 2011 Helpful? 0 | 0
Question:
This product is made of toughened plastic giving a solid feel. The spot head and the solar panel comprise one unit with the solar panel easily angled to the sun depending on the time of the year. It was readily apparent that it was not possible to rotate the solar panel in a different direction to the spot head which could cause some problems in maximising the amount of sun caught by the solar panel. I was able to wall mount mine directly facing south although deck and stake fittings are supplied. The unit has to be left for 3 days prior to first use and when switched on the light turns on automatically at dusk and off at dawn. There is no movement sensor meaning the light was permanently on which might not suit everyone. Bearing this in mind and with just eight LED's I was sceptical at the quality of light that could be produced but was amazed at the amount achieved covering a large area.I only expected the light to stay on for 3 or 4 hours but I do know that it was still shining brightly one night after 10 hours. A very impressive product ideally suited for my needs. By Sir Vay of The Amatho on Mar 16, 2011 Helpful? 0 | 0
Question:
Excellent product. This is the brightest spot light of have ever tried that works off solar power. Great ways to use the product also either on wall or in the ground. You can angle the solar panel to get the best charge and also angle the light itself. Gives off great effect in the garden. By Mark Ratcliffe on Mar 14, 2011 Helpful? 0 | 0
Question:
I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of light and how long it lasts on a charge of winter sun. It is sitting in our water garden pointing at a mini water feature and lights it up quite well until around midnight each day. It's not super bright but good enough to allow you to see a reasonable size area. Still amazing given the lack of sun we have had lately to charge it up. The solar panel would be better if you could angle it side to side as well.Solar lighting is the future especially as LED technology improves. By SpyderComputers on Mar 07, 2011 Helpful? 0 | 0
Question:
An excellent product made of a very sturdy plastic (not liable to rust which is a bonus!!) - The instructions are very straight forward and being solar powered no fiddling about with wires. The light is excellent - far better than the halogen equivalent that I purchased elsewhere. (I would have preferred it if the solar panel could rotate in order to make use of the best sun but this is only a minor negative). All in all a very satisfied customer.
