Description
The Evo SMD Solar Security Light offers mains equivalent brightness from a highly compact unit that offers truly exceptional waterproofing and can deliver 500 activations lasting 30 seconds each from a full charge. The activation time can be set so that the Evo SMD lights up from between 15 seconds and 3 minutes each time it detects motion.
The Evo SMD uses a high performance rubber compression seal and numerous waterproof O-rings on the light body and motion sensor which guarantee superior waterproofing to IP56 standard.
During the day the Evo SMD's solar panel charges its internal battery giving it the power it needs to light after dark. After dark the Evo SMD will activate as soon as it detects motion. At dawn the Evo SMD stops activating and starts charging again ready for the night ahead.

As with other customer feedback a good product let down by irritating oversight of fixings not suitable for the job in hand.

Question:
Was disappointed that the box in which the light was delivered was very damaged and had been previously used. This was a concern that it was a return from another customer.

Thanks for your comments, we keep all new stock at the other end of the warehouse so you're very unlikely to have had a previously used unit - it sounds like the courier may have been having a bad day. Question:
Fitted the solar security light today and found the instructions not very clear as there was no mention of a rubber O ring in the box.
Also the connector plug was not a good fit as it would not tighten up fully so had to wrap some electrical tape around it to prevent any rain water from getting in.
The solar panel is also very difficult to install,do you attach the wall brackets to the light or to the wall first as there is no mention in the instructions as to the order this should be done.
Hopefully the light will operate without any problems only time will tell.

Many thanks for the feedback on the instructions, whilst we haven't had complaints in the past we'll look at how we can improve these going forwards. When attaching the wall bracket we recommend attaching this to the wall first.

The plastic cap which screws over the connection between the light and the solar panel was on the cable side of the the panel connector and would not slip over the raised rings on the connector in order to screw into the light connector. I like the light. The remote solar charger gives great freedom of placement and the light charges quickly. I bought and installed during early Feb and the unit has been working well.
There are some issues;
The solar panel is loose in the ball and socket joint and has no way to tighten it.
I was unable to adjust the sensitivity. Even with the sensitivity turned to minimum, the light still triggers in bright daylight.
It was not as bright as I had hoped, but is adequate for visitors approaching the front door.

I bought these for my new place but I have not yet yet put them up because I want to be sure that the panel is placed to catch good sun in the winter months. The placement was a no-brainer in my old place and, given the efficiency of my old lights, I am not overly concerned about the placement for these new ones but ... .
