Evo SMD Solar Security Light

good while it lasted purchased December 2014, stopped working October 2015. puzzled as to why it has suddenly stopped but while it worked it was nice and bright. Good Very good quality light. awesome PIR distance. good light output for the tiny 10w SMD led. im using it to light up a driveway at end of garden.. time will tell.. as my place is on coast and gets hit by strong winds/rain. I had to secure the light/pir/pv cell better with bits of wood. A few things required for next version..... -- consider a brighter LED option. are you able to make a option for a 50w SMD light? or would pv panel have to be increase? -- Add a position locking mechanism for the PIR sensor. you can lock it in position on the vertical axis, but not horizontally. Have had to secure mind further with zip ties due to strong winds moving it. Although the vertical locking isn't brilliant (change to a secure nut/bolt design?) -- the PV cell ball joint isn't idle in windy places. and it could move easy on the slightly touch. add a option for the user to detach the ball joint and fixing points on side of panel to allow direct fixing to a surface... or on another note. change the ball joint for one that can be tightened securely. A two light option and 1 pv cell option would be good. Massive improvement on older Evos Didn't expect this to compete with my Evo36 which finally gave up the ghost after 3 years service, but it does. If anything its actually brighter than the 36 even though the unit is quite a bit smaller (the solar panel is same size as 36). Definitely prefer the warm white on this to the blue white of the 36 and the unit looks much more waterproof too. By Richard Gregory

Lighting for Dog Exercise area I purchased the Evo SMD Solar Security light to illuminate the fenced area used by my dog at night. He turns on the light himself and the whole 15 metre run is lit. It works perfectly in a north facing area with little direct sunlight for the solar panel. The light was easy to fit (I am a Civil Engineer), but fitting the light to the bracket during a hailstorm with frozen fingers hampered the process. An improvement would be to have outward facing bolts built into the light body, with nuts and washers fitted from the outside. By Richard Martin

Good light - traditional style Good traditional style security light where you can individually adjust the angle of the light, the sensor and place the solar panel where it gets the most sun. Adjustable for lux, time, sensitivity and so far is working with our limited winter daylight hours. Detects to 12m as it says on the box. As previous reviewer says - the screws supplied are too small to mount the light, they fell through the holes. Seems they have had a batch with the wrong screws supplied. I just used my own stainless screws that I luckily had to hand. Still 5 * rating. By Andy Tate

Brilliant light - better company! I've purchased a number of products from The Solar Centre, and always been impressed with their prompt delivery and the quality of the lights. I purchased an EVO light just over 12 months ago, and it has given brilliant (excuse the pun) service throughout last winter and into this year; however a couple months ago I noticed the PIR unit had filled with water and the unit had stopped working. I contacted The Solar Centre and they immediately sent a replacement, which they said had improved sealing. Only a couple of months into the replacement - I started having issues again - so again contacted The Solar Centre; who were very surprised to hear of additional issues - after a couple of messages back and forth and to my intense embarrassment it was found that the fault was of my making!! - I had mounted the unit in such a way the PIR was upside down - thus allowing water into the unit - Whoops!! But in true customer service fashion, The Solar Centre have sent me a replacement free of charge, which I have dutifully promised to fit the correct way up!! Thanks very much to The Solar Centre for all their help with this issue. I would whole heartily recommend both this light and The Solar Centre. By David Woodcock

Does the job! Fitted to the shed to illuminate a dark pathway. Took a few days to dial in the sensitivity and duration. It's transformed a passage along the path in the dark. Both the light and panel were smaller than expected (good) and it works effectively so far. By Phil

One satisfied customer! Only bought this light recently but so far very pleased with it. It is, in fact, the second one I've bought from you this year. They are straightforward to install and give a very good light. Would like to compliment your company on your customer service regarding a battery for a previous Evo light. good Very happy with the ease of buying, quick delivery and product does what it says. Too soon to tell if the solar panel will be successful in recharging all through the winter days but working well for first two nights. By Hazel
