Question:
I have, to date, bought 7 of these lights! When friends see the ones which are in the garden they ask "from where" and I buy more.
Good quality, good service, good illumination.
Very easy to put up and even though the instructions suggest not to install under glass, two are in a glass roofed sun lounge in France and stay lit all night.
Classy looking too..... By Nancy Wilkinson on Mar 30, 2017

Question:
The 6 lights I ordered look the part but they are not lasting threw the night only a few hours By Paul on Dec 30, 2015
Answer:
Thanks for the feedback. If you lights are in a poor location or you have been very unlucky with many overcast days in a row the lights should work up to 10 hours. Have you tried switching to power saving mode? This mode is design to more than double the run time, perfect for winter conditions.

Question:
Been looking for outside wall lights without having to run wires so solar were the ideal choice. Having been sceptical about the light quality I was pleasantly surprised. Even on the low setting these lights emit sufficient light to be comparable with powered decorative wall lights. No hesitation in recommending and very easy to install. By Mark on Jun 09, 2018

Question:
When I posted my last review of the Canterbury I had had not such a good experience last year, with the top units rusting and failing entirely after only a few months outdoors. Solarcentre were very good and replaced them free of charge, the replacements had been modified to exclude some metal parts and are still working. Having ordered more this month I see there have been more design changes, including making them more water-resistant and incorporating a higher- and lower-output switching option. (It might help if the relevant P and S positions were actually indicated on the unit!)
I've had them working only a week so can't comment further. By Paul on Jul 12, 2015
Answer:
The P and S positions should be marked on the white plastic. It can be hard to see as it is only raised marking and not printed.

Question:
Look great and very simple to set up and install. Only criticism is it has to be quite dark before they come on,would be nice to have a manual override option. By Paul Flight on Jul 26, 2015
Answer:
Thanks for the review. One idea is you can cover the panel if you need the lights on sooner, just make sure to remove the cover once it's dark enough for them to run anyway so they charge properly the next day.

By Lesley wilson on Aug 03, 2015
Answer:
If you're still within your 12 month warranty please contact us for a free replacement top. If not we strongly recommend the
XT Tops as an upgrade that have been very well received. They offer enhanced waterproofing and Powersaving mode that have only been introduced recently with the new XT range of lights.

Question:
I bought 6 Canterbury XT Solar wall lights in late spring and had them sent to me in Spain, while they look good and produce the required amount of light the on/off switches are absolutely rubbish, of the six only three switches are of any use. I'm disappointed to say the least. The switches are not of any quality that could be referred to as good. Never again. By Dan Sweeney on Oct 06, 2015
Answer:
Hi Dan. Thanks for your comments, I've asked customer services to get in touch with you to resolve the issues you're having there and to make sure we get some photos so we can improve the switches as required.

Question:
While I am satisfied with the overall quality of the product itself, a simple change to the design would make fitting so much easier.
The holes in the front plate are not horizontal so cannot be used as a template for fitting, and the holes in the backplate for attaching to the wall are neither in the horizontal nor vertical plane.
This means you have to attach the backplate to the wall by one screw then assemble the light to find the perpendicular. Then you have to dismantle the light without moving the backplate so you can mark and drill the second wall screw.
It would have been so easy, and so helpful, to have just made the front holes horizontal and the backplat holes vertical. By Tony Cuthbert on Jan 18, 2016
Answer:
Thanks for your comments and suggestion Tony (very obvious now that you say it!) We've sent a revised design for the backplate over to our manufacturing team for the new mould to be constructed. All future batches of the Canterbury will feature the new backplate, thanks once again.

Question:
looks pretty but out of the box its rubbish, even after being turned off and charged for a few days it only lasted for a few hours, I thought maybe a better way would be to take the batteries out and give them a charge, I became obvious what the problem is the batteries are the cheapest lowest power most useless ones on the market or in China. they are unbranded 900MAH . I replaced them with Energizer 2450MAH and hay presto everything works brilliantly, lesson for Solarcenter don't ruin a product for a bit more margin By Adrian Winch on Feb 25, 2016
Answer:
Many thanks for your comments Adrian - good to hear you like the product. The standard batteries in the unit allow up to 3 nights of run time, any extra than this is just wasted capacity as the solar panel won't use all of that extra capacity as part of its standard charge and discharge cycle. When designing the products to work in UK conditions it's always a balancing act between the solar panel and battery capacity and from what customers are telling us we've got this balance in the right place at present. Once again thanks for your feedback and we'll be discussing this in the next product design review meeting.
