Frequently Asked Questions
Question:
I bought my first of these in January 2014. It arrived quickly and was easy to install. But by June the light had failed - it wasn't coming on. To their credit the company replaced both the light and the charging unit without quibble. I installed the new one in August. By the first week of December instead of staying on for 25 seconds as before, it was just a second or two (and came on again for another couple of seconds as I moved around). By the end of December it stopped working entirely again. I've given up. When it worked it was probably a bit underpowered for my shed, light enough to see things, but not quite strong enough to actually work on my bike with ease. By Sheldon on Jan 27, 2015 Helpful? 1 | 0
Question:
Thank you for inviting me to write a review on this item. Unfortunately I cannot write review yet, only installed them yesturday due to VERY BAD WEATHER here in Wales. You advise three days to fully charge so not charged properly yet, as a ruslut of your advise not even swithced on. By Robert on Jan 29, 2015 Helpful? 0 | 9
Question:
Thought we'd try one of these by our front gate to light the opening before path light comes on. Installation is easy build quality ok and pir is fine. But despite pre charging as per instructions the amount of light it gives is really poor. It's hardly worth having. We have another bought from another supplier that gives double the light. Sorry cannot recommend. By Martin d on Dec 06, 2015 Helpful? 3 | 1
Question:
I bought these lights to help being Green. They work well,I admit, but when the batteries fail, as they will, the only way to replace them, as the leaflet states, is to de solder and re solder in three AAA batteries. How many people can do that? They get thrown away.
NOT good for the planet. By Ian on Dec 16, 2015 Helpful? 5 | 4
Question:
Of several purchases I have made from the Solar Centre this is by far the worst.I know this light is cheap but it looks it.However it does what it says it does as a light, but I have installed the unit under cover as I don't think it would last a month in a wet Cornish autumn. Question:
I have been very pleased with the lighting offered by solar centre until now. I installed my evolution 15 and left it to charge for three days before switching it on. Unfortunately when I pressed the switch the catch broke off the back of the unit and I am struggling to find a way I can secure the light as the shape of the light and the way it is constructed does not lend itself to being attached by any alternative method. The unit needs a more robust catch or an alternative method of installation. Sorry, solar centre, but I can only give you a 2 By Steven Cull on Jan 25, 2016 Answer:

Question:
exactly the same problem as Steve on Feb 23. fixed with Araldite but it would be preferable if the manufacturing quality were better.

Question:
Poor plastic quality, the fitting for the light snapped when first installed and I had to cobble together an alternative fitting. The light works well and the brightness is good but doubt the longevity based on the quality. By Garry Ainsley on Mar 23, 2016 Answer:

Question:
Excellent service from the company. Chose this product after reading the mainly good reviews. For the two nights this worked it did what we needed it to do but I would suggest that this light is better suited to indoors, ie garage or shed, as one day exposed to some rain seems to have affected the sensor as it now works only when almost standing in front of it. I brought it indoors to dry off but it doesn't catch movement until about a metre in front.. It can,t be because of lack of light as all my other Solars are lit. Shame, as otherwise it is a nice looking product.
By Anita Howard on Mar 02, 2016 Answer:
Thanks for your review Anita. It's very unlikely to be a water ingress issue as there are good seals on the light but there could be a fault or defect elsewhere that's causing issues. Please contact us and we'll get you up and running asap. Helpful? 1 | 0
