I was somewhat sceptical when I ordered this light as it was my first solar powered garden light but I have to say that I am absolutely delighted with the Vortex. I installed the light in my shed with the panel mounted on the roof it was all very easy and I have to say that I am amazed with how bright this light is. I have not tested the light to see how long it will stay on for continuously but having followed the instructions when I installed it it has provided more than enough light for several hours work in the shed without fault. If this light is typical of the quality of solar lights provided by the solar centre then I shall certainly be installing more solar lighting around my garden. By Happy Shopper

I don't have a shed so I couldn't test that function but as a parasol light it's great. It has a removable centre which allows the light to slide up the pole. It provides more than enough light to see your beer on the garden table. Great product perfect for what I need it for. By Fast Adie Felson

This is my third solar light from the SolarCentre all of which have been fantastic. The light arrived quickly and was easy to charge and install. The instructions could be followed with common-sense though the lettering isn't right: The Fixing Bracket is (A) The Parasol light is (B) and U-bracket is (C). The best thing about these lights is that they are completely mains free. I installed the light in the shed which has no other means of lighting it. You would probably want more than this if you were working for any extended periods in your shed. The lights are really bright perfect for when you just need to grab something from the shed at night. Another triumph from The Solar Centre following the very bright Evo 56. The delivery of their products is fast and efficient and if you need any help they are always available to answers any question. I have fitted my Vortex Shed Light in the storage shed at the end of the garden and at last I can stop being a night Cyclops with my head torch when I need to collect anything. This light gives me great illumination where I need it and when I need it with no worry running out extension cables. By Greenfingers

The people at Solar Centre are really helpful. This is our second solar light and I am really impressed with the quality of both items and the help from the helpline. I have used this light in our garage and it provides a good amount of light to find things at night. If you wanted to use it for working in a workshop then I don't feel it would give off enough light. The fitting instructions are really easy to follow and the charge on the light is lasting really well even though the last few days have been very grim and foggy. All in all a great purchase. Shed light So far I have only done an initial test - appears to work fine. It is recommended that you give a 5 day initial charge but no sun so far so I cannot comment on the light strength or use length By Ian Dickens

Height: 25mm

Solar Panel
Height: 170mm
Width: 190mm

Weight 700g

How does it work?
The high powered solar panel charges the internal rechargeable batteries by day. When you require light press the button on the face of the light unit to turn it on. The first push will turn all 36 LED bulbs on. Pushing again will operate the 24 outer LED bulbs only. A third push will operate the inner 12 LED bulbs only. Another push will turn the light off. Please note the more LED bulbs you have on the faster the batteries will drain.

How do I install it?
Using the supplied flat head screws and rawl plugs attach the U-bracket (C) to where you wish to mount the light. Please ensure that there is enough space to connect the solar panel cable into the side of the light unit. Once the U-bracket is secure, attach the shed fixing bracket (A) into the centre of the light and then slide this into the U-bracket. Finally, connect the cable from the Solar Panel into the socket on the side of the light unit and position the panel where it will receive the most amount of light.

Tech Specs
  • 36 x Super bright white LEDs
  • 12, 24 or 36 LEDs switch option
  • Will light up for up to 7 hours when fully charged
  • 1.5W Poly crystalline solar panel
  • 3 x 1.2V AA 1800mAh Ni-MH rechargeable, replaceable batteries
  • 4.8 Metres of cable
  • Black body colour
  • IP44 Rated
Please note that the Vortex is designed to charge by day and work at night so the unit will not operate if the panel is in daylight unless you unplug the solar panel. This is OK for occasional use, but the unit will struggle to charge if it is regularly used during the day when it is supposed to be charging.
